  • The presets are based on averages from the ASPCA and other North American non-profits. They give you a good starting point, but every household and every pet is different. For the most accurate estimate, replace the presets with your own costs.

  • You can add them in the last row labeled “Other annual costs (divide by 12)”. For example, if a dental cleaning costs $600 once a year, enter $50 in the Monthly column. That way it’s spread evenly across the year.

  • Yes! You can either:

    • Add up your monthly and one-time costs for all pets and enter them here, or

    • Open the calculator twice (or download the Excel version) and track each pet separately.

  • Not yet. Changing the currency symbol updates the display only. To be accurate, type in your own local costs.

  • Click Print / Save PDF to keep a copy on your computer. Or download the Excel Planner version (you’ll get it sent by email) so you can customize, save, and update it anytime.

  • Pets bring us so much joy, but unexpected costs can cause stress. Knowing your monthly, annual, and first-year totals helps you plan ahead, build an emergency fund, and enjoy life with your pet with more peace of mind.
