About Dear Pet Mom™
Why This Exists
Pet care has always had a blind spot.
There is no shortage of advice on how to feed, train, and love a pet. But the practical and financial side of pet life, the part that determines whether a family can actually sustain the care they want to give, rarely gets the same attention.
That gap is what started this.
The belief that preparedness belongs in the conversation. That knowing what your pet costs, building a rhythm of care, and being ready before life gets hard is not optional. It is part of responsible pet ownership, and most pet parents simply were never given the tools to do it.
Dear Pet Mom exists to change that.
Everyday Pet Preparedness
Everyday Pet Preparedness™ is the idea that responsible pet parenting includes the financial and practical side of pet life, not just feeding, training, and vet visits.
It means knowing what your pet costs, building a rhythm of care that holds when life gets busy, and being ready before you are tested. Small, steady habits that create a home your pet can count on.
This is the foundation of everything built here. The Pet Mom Routine™ addresses the rhythm of everyday care, and the Pet Money Routine™ addresses the financial side of pet care. Together they form the practical expression of this philosophy, supported by tools on the Pet Shelf designed to help pet parents put both into practice.
About the Founder
I'm Patricia, founder of Dear Pet Mom and the creator behind the Pet Mom Routine and Pet Money Routine. I live in Calgary with Sergi, Cleo, and Cooper, my three cats who have shaped everything I believe about intentional care.
I started this space because the financial side of pet parenting was the piece no one was addressing honestly. The care and routine side followed, because the two are not separate. A financially prepared home is a calmer, steadier home.
I built Dear Pet Mom the same way I believe pet care should be approached: with intention, with systems, and without shortcuts. Whether you are here to manage pet costs, build a care routine that fits real life, or simply find a grounded place to think about pet parenting, you are welcome here.
