The Dear Pet Mom Manifesto: Why This Blog Exists

Dear Pet Mom,

The world today is loud.

There’s noise everywhere - from social media to online shopping, from flashy ads to endless expert opinions. Everything is fast, curated, and trying to sell you something. It can be overwhelming, even when it’s convenient.

It can also be confusing. There’s so much advice out there. So many products. So many people claiming to know what’s best. It’s hard to keep up, and even harder to figure out what’s truly right for you and your pets.

I come from the Philippines, a place where life is more modest, more conservative, and often grounded in simplicity. Moving to Canada was a culture shock for me. Suddenly, I had access to things I had never been able to afford before. For a while, I let the abundance sweep me away. I bought more clothes and shoes in a year than I could ever wear in five. And this was even though I worked from home and was barely out of the house! About 90% of them eventually ended up in donation boxes.

It took me a while to notice what was happening. I wasn’t just shopping; I was responding to the constant stream of suggestions, recommendations, and trends. There was always something new to consider, something a little more “perfect.” It quietly added up.

That moment of awareness is part of what brought me here, because I’ve noticed a similar pattern in the world of pet parenthood.

Somehow, being a good pet parent has become tied to buying more. But the best doesn’t always come from what we buy; it comes from how we show up. Our pets need our presence, our love, our time. They need routines, safe spaces, good health, and a little fun here and there. They need the basics done well. And we need to be reminded that simplicity is okay, and that we can be prepared for life’s surprises without feeling buried in unnecessary things.

So here’s what Dear Pet Mom is all about:

  • It’s a quiet, cozy corner of the internet.

  • A place for heartfelt stories, thoughtful advice, and lessons learned from my life with three quirky felines.

  • It’s about making pet care simpler, calmer, and more intentional

  • No fluff, no hype, no hard selling.

  • This isn’t about chasing trends. You’d never find me doing a post on “The Top 3 Toys for your Pets Today.”

  • If I recommend something, it’s because I’ve used it. And I’d genuinely suggest it to a friend.

Here you will find tips, advice, and tools to help you feel more prepared and confident in caring for your pets, without the overwhelm. Because when we simplify the noise, we can focus on what truly matters: giving our pets steady, loving care.

Welcome to Dear Pet Mom. I'm so glad you're here.
